Still exploring my new environs, I kayaked the back channels from Sayward to Campbell River. These waterways are not busy, and they are considerably less windy than Johnstone Strait. I was able to ride with the flood for much of the trip; the various rapids were not difficult to deal with. I had one fine day with the wind at my back; but also struggled against a south-easterly along part of Cortes Island.
